Description

This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to implement Universal Design for Learning within your classroom. You will be introduced to the UDL theory, learning styles, and barriers to learning before learning how to implement UDL in order to reach all students in your classroom.

Expected Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of this course participants should be able to:

  • Understand the UDL framework, explain why using UDL is important when planning classroom lessons, and identify ways to incorporate UDL in the classroom.
  • Identify learning styles and how they apply to the UDL guidelines.
  • Identify barriers to learning and devise solutions using the UDL guidelines.
  • Apply different methods that appeal to different types of students, including ELLs while teaching a lesson.  
  • Identify different types of assistive technology for special education students

Course Instructor Credentials

Former science and special education teacher and administrator. Currently holds a Secondary Science certification with a focus in Biology, along with LBS1 and ESL endorsements. Graduated with a B.S. in 2012 from Ohio State University, and a MAT in 2014 from Dominican University.
